It's just that the DAW isn't picking up the live part of the Skype conversation. The meter's doing it's thing while my client is giving me feedback and direction. The trouble is, Console 2.0 *hears* both sides, according to the master meter on the right side of Console. When the call's done, the hang-up sound was recorded as well as all other sounds coming from the computer. But the moment the call is connected, absolutely nothing is recorded. That's right: it recorded volume up/down clicks, it recorded the "doot-dut-doot-di-doot-dit" dialing sound that Skype makes. Also great! Except for one thing: Track 2 recorded everything *but* the LIVE AUDIO OF THE CALL. Great! Track 2 did indeed record the Skype call-along with any other audio from my computer that happened to be heard like alerts and stuff. Track 1 did indeed record my voice from my mic as I intended. I managed to get this set up successfully-or though I thought-and here's where it gets interesting. I have Skype set to use Universal Audio Apollo for both the mic and the speaker, and I have my Mac's system audio set to do the same (Option-click the volume icon in your menu bar and select Universal Audio Apollo for both the Input and Output Devices.) Use case: Using a multitrack session in my DAW, I've armed Track 1 to record only what my mic picks up (yours truly doing another fantastic voice-over!), while Track 2 records the Skype conversation, since these are live-directed sessions where the clients are listening in via Skype. I have exactly one input into the Apollo: a nice mic.

I have the ultimate Skype challenge for someone.įor reference: I'm using an Apollo Twin with Console 2.0 and a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.3). As far as FaceTime, even with PT mode off and Skype working fine, doesn't give me the option to to change any audio input within the program and still doesn't seem to work with an external audio interface. Im using a iMac with my input/output as UA Apollo and my preferences on Skype are the same. I believe Skype only receives signal from Input 1 of whatever input device your using so you would have to plug your 57 into Input 1. The digital inputs get moved when PT mode is activated and puts two "NULL" inputs in where Skype usually sees the mic input. I've been struggling with Skype and the UA Apollo for a while and finally found a solution! I originally had the same result as you (seeing signal on the sound prefs tab but other party couldn't here me in Skype). In my audio midi settings, I see the apollo labeled as PCI, and I see my inputs and outputs, but I cannot alter them at all, except change my speaker settings via configure speakers.Īny suggestions on if I can plug a 57 into my 4th preamp and use that for my FaceTime or Skype application? Thanks! Audio comes through the apollo, but input is not reading a signal in these applications. When using my built in mic, it works fine. When I try to have a conversation via FaceTime or Skype however, the person on the other end cannot hear me (I chose apollo in my settings for both). When I speak into the mic, I see the signal at the sound preference setting, meaning it is hearing a signal. In my sound preferences setting, I see the apollo for both input and output.
